IceMapping is a project of which I have been part initiated my the Tampere University of Applied Sciences. During a few weeks, we were thought how to sculpt ice using chainsaws, chisels and bare hands. By working together with students from the University of Oulu (biology department) we came up with different idea’s on the project theme; Global Change. By making icesculptures and videomapping them with self-made visuals the ice starts to radiate the colorful light in a strange, but amazing way. We made this project to an unforgettable exposition in Oulanka National Park, starting a discussion about the way our society changes the world.
While working on the ice I actually fell in one of the holes we made the day before. (even though it was around -30 degrees Celsius outside, I probably made a wrong step). It was the first, and so far last time I fell through the ice, but I remember it as quite a funny experience.
